Tuberculosis (TB) Management

• Proper Diagnosis:To determine the presence of TB and whether it is sensitive to the drugs or if it is Drug-Resistant TB (DR-TB), chest X-rays, sputum tests (CBNAAT/GeneXpert), and any other required tests are utilised.
• Treatment Protocols:The administration and follow-up of a comprehensive treatment regimen, including Multi-Drug Therapy (MDT), in accordance with national guidelines.
• Side Effect Monitoring:monitoring of the patients closely in case of any side effects of anti-TB drugs, especially in the liver and taking appropriate actions.
• Co-infection Screening:The detection and management of similar diseases, especially HIV, since they co-infect and are challenging to manage.

HIV Management

HIV is a virus which infects the immune system of the body. With proper management, modern medicine enables individuals infected with HIV to live almost an everyday life.

• Antiretroviral Therapy (ART):ART should be started and carefully followed to reduce the viral load, increase the CD4 count, and avoid AIDS.
• Opportunistic Infection (OI) Prophylaxis:This involves the prevention and treatment of opportunistic infections, such as TB and fungal infections, that may arise when immunity ceases to function effectively.
• Long-Term Care: editing persistent supportive medical, nutritional, and psychological care; controlling peri-medication effects; and taking care of comorbidities, such as diabetes and cardiovascular risk.
• Monitoring: Frequent blood tests to check the viral load and CD4 counts to make sure the treatment is still working.
